At the moment, we have used most of the possible roofing materials including tiles, fiber cement plates and metal sheets. With modern materials it is much of a appreciation since all these materials work perfectly if installed right.
One can save money in short term choosing metal roof. It will last 15-25 years. If one desires a more long-lasting roof, quality tiles can be used. I personally see the question of roof being more about heat insulation than the material. In tropical climate shadow and proper insulation in modern housing is a necessity and one can save a fair deal of money insulating the roof properly. In the long run it will save money.
