What Material for Roof?

At the moment, we have used most of the possible roofing materials including tiles, fiber cement plates and metal sheets. With modern materials it is much of a appreciation since all these materials work perfectly if installed right.

One can save money in short term choosing metal roof. It will last 15-25 years. If one desires a more long-lasting roof, quality tiles can be used. Tile roof requires more from the structure and therefore is more expensive but it also can last for the next 50+ years. There are many kind of tiles, cheapest not really providing much more than a metal roof would but quality ones are nice and long-lasting.

Fiber cement plates are also an option. They are maybe a bit more quiet during rain than metal sheeting and replacing a broken sheet is relatively easy.

I personally see the question of roof being more about heat insulation than the material. In tropical climate shadow and proper insulation in modern housing is a necessity and one can save a fair deal of money insulating the roof properly. In the long run it will save money.

Good Foundations

Half of the money of Thai house is in the ground and roof, roughly speaking. And for the future, it is the most important factor to ensure the sustainability of your house. Foundations that are poorly executed are a real danger to your house. Cracks and your house's frame can be seriously damaged due to poor workmanship.

Here some examples how we do shuttering work before casting concrete. This house is going to have just one floor but could easily be added one more. Pole footings are about one meter deep and wall footings are about 40 cm high which is above specifications but guarantees a strong future for your home.

We are busy!

Sorry for all not posting for a long time. We are busy as always. The backlog of work is at the moment between 4 to 6 months and very little precious time for updating this site.

European-Thai Construction Comp. is headed up by Mike (UK) and Sam (Finnish/Swedish) who met a decade ago while building their own houses in Thailand. They both have considerable previous experience in European construction projects, however it did not prepare them for the difficulties that awaited as they struggled with the Thai systems and workforce while trying to get the houses they wanted.

From this humble beginning Thaihousebuilder has been created and they are now able to offer cost effective project management, Western style advice and standards as well as optimally using the semi-skilled and skilled local workforce combined with local suppliers.

Build with Confidence! We do it all for you from cost counting to best deals fro materials. Everything will be shown you in advance and no hidden costs charged.
